Focus: Effective and continuous
home/school liaison
Strategies:
- Employment of 0.5 Assistant Teacher
to monitor attendance and make home visits.
- Referral of parents/carers to support
agencies as appropriate.
- Encouraging parents to access schooling
for their children even when not all perceived expectations
can be met (lunches, uniforms, books, shoes).
- Nutrition program to encourage parents
and children to see the links between healthy lifestyle
and education.
- Emergency supplies of books, pens
and so on at school.
- Fostering community engagement through
parent forums (term basis) and monthly workshops.
Focus: Support in dealing with
social factors that may contribute to truancy
Strategies:
- Introduction of Life Education Program
for students.
- Promote the ‘You Can Do
It’ program in the school and in individual classrooms
to facilitate development of self-esteem and social and
organisational skills.

of each term and year.
