Outcome Statements
A Balanced Numeracy Program
A Balanced Numeracy Program should:
- develop the specialised knowledge and language needed
for understanding and applying mathematical concepts
- help children learn rules of organization and mathematics
within the context of their own lives
- help children make links between first-hand experience
and mathematics
- give children opportunities to get their ideas together
through talk.
A Balanced Numeracy Program should therefore include all the
following components:
- Shared Teaching Approach
- Guided Teaching Approach
- Independent Work
- Paired Work
- Small Group Work
